Marisa Fernandez, RN

Marisa Fernandez, Registered Nurse, began working at Princeton Family Care Associates first as a receptionist in 2013 while attending college. Marisa graduated from The College of New Jersey with a B.A. in Psychology in 2017. After graduating, she worked at Carrier Clinic as a Mental Health Technician.  There she supervised and supported the treatment of patients in an in-patient setting. Marisa has additional crisis intervention experience volunteering as a Crisis Counselor for Crisis Text Line, a free support service for anyone in crisis. She transitioned into our Psychiatric Technician role supporting the practice's clinical care team. She is currently on track to complete her BS in Nursing at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA for May 2024.

In between her coursework, the Psychiatric Technician works closely with the clinical staff to attend to a variety of patients’ needs as they arise. The psych tech works with the psychiatrist, the APN’s, and the Clinical Coordinating APN when addressing patients’ case management needs. This role includes submitting prior authorizations requests to acquire approval from patient’s insurance pharmacy benefits, answering low-grade clinical questions, following up on patient's needs regarding missed appointments, coordinating ancillary services, and other general case management concerns as indicated. The psych tech is also responsible for gathering preliminary information on new patient contacts seeking treatment, gathering clinical resources for the practice, maintaining our psychotherapist referral database for patients, as well as social media for the practice, including oversight of the practice website and Facebook posts.
