Although Dr. Fernandez is not an endocrinologist, he has an advanced knowledge of the overlap of hormonal systems and psychiatric illness. In particular, the thyroid and the human reproductive system can often manifest subtle yet significant effects on psychiatric symptoms. 

Part of the new patient assessment can include laboratory and urine testing of hormonal systems that may be playing a role in the patients illness as well as an assessment of pertinent vitamin status.

Proper vitamin and hormone supplementation is also very important in maximizing the patient's response to any prescribed medication.
