Adria Trapani-Barnacz, RN, LPC, LCADC
Adria Trapani-Barnacz, Clinical Coordinator is a Registered Nurse as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the State of New Jersey. She completed an AS at Mercer County Community College, a BA in Psychology at The College of New Jersey, and an MA in Applied Clinical Psychology at William Paterson University. She is currently pursing her BSN at Walden University.
Since 2000 Adria has specialized in assessment, differential diagnosis, and making treatment recommendations for clients in a variety of settings. She is committed to providing evidenced based treatment to individuals with complex symptoms. She is intensively trained as a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) individual psychotherapist and skills trainer. She is Level II trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) using Roy Keisling’s Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) Model. She has been effectively using these modalities since 2007 to help clients with substance abuse, addiction, personality disorders, anxiety, mood, and thought disorders.
In addition to her formal training, Adria has a broad range of clinical experiences including individual, group, and family therapy for those ages 16 years through adulthood. She has participated in treatment program development, clinical trainings, and professional presentations. While working in a hospital based setting, she initiated a collaborative relationship with Central Jersey Intergroup for Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and facilitated the start of an on-site introductory adolescents’ meeting as a way to expose struggling youths to the long-term support of the 12-Step community.
Adria's role as a Registered Nurse combines her mental health experience with a holistic understanding of the body. Working under the supervision of Dr. Fernandez, Adria functions as a liaison between the psychiatrist and the patient: assessing patient's psychiatric medications, and providing one-on-one therapy and/or supportive family therapy as clinically indicated. Adria facilitates our Parent Psycho-educational Group, "Helping Your Emerging Adult Make Adult Decisions", which she co-developed with Dr. Fernandez.
Adria works in our Princeton office on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
